Due to insufficient time, modern-day organizations prefer training their employees whenever a chance arises. Mobile learning (m-learning) can help employees to access training modules and other forms of learning materials anytime, anywhere. Well, in this post, we will share some simple steps on how to implement a mobile learning LMS in your organization, for a centralized and consistent training process.

First, identify the need and analyse your employees (learners)  

M-learning cannot be implemented in one go. Regardless of the potential benefits associated with it, you should first evaluate if there is a pressing need for mobile learning in your company. This can be realized by identifying the gaps in your current training techniques and analysing how m-learning can fill those gaps. If there is a need, start preparing a list of employees who can greatly benefit from it. Then confirm if they (employees) are ready for this kind of training/learning.

Determine the costs 

You need to approximate the cost of implementing m-learning, by taking into account the following.

  • Hardware cost – This includes the costs of mobile gadgets and related infrastructure.
  • Development cost – This entails the costs incurred in paying graphic designers, instructional designers and other experts needed to create the m-learning course.   
  • LMS Integration cost – This includes the cost of setting up a new LMS, if you do not own one, or to determine if your current system is not compatible with m-learning.

Decide on the devices

Here, you have two options – buy mobile gadgets for your staff or employ the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Remember, if you wish to go the BYOD way, ensure that the training courses you create are compatible with all makes of your employees’ mobile devices.

Develop courses considering the small screen

Develop your training course while keeping the screen size of mobile devices in mind. Make sure that the interactivities incorporated in the course are simple, brief and self-contained. Additionally, since the mobile device screens are different, ensure that the authoring tool you have can be used to create a course that runs faultlessly, on all mobile devices.

Select the appropriate delivery method

There are various training delivery methods that can be used in m-learning. They include videos, podcasts, documents, apps, etc. Ensure that the delivery method you use guarantees maximum learner engagement and information retention.

Final word

Bear in mind, the mobile LMS implementation process does not stop at the time of the launch. Constantly look for ways to advance the system, add more courses, optimize the content and enhance the user experience.
